Front-end developer (Lisbon)

Do you want to work on a successful product and help take it to the next level? Timewax is looking for front-end or full-stack developers that want to help reshape our existing front-end applications. This is an opportunity to have a real impact on our front-end code, the user experience, but also on the technical choices we need to take going forward.

We’ve recently started migrating our front-end application using the following technologies:

React as a rendering framework, Redux for state handling and Redux-Saga for side-effects

Written in TypeScript (in a functional style using prelude-ts)

Linting using Eslint and AirBnb’s JavaScript style guide and code formatting using Prettier

Unit testing with Jest

Component-driven development using Storybook

Help moving forward

“I think it’s a great challenge to explore the possibilities of Timewax together with the customer. So our software can help the customer’s company move forward.”

CUSTOMER SUCCESS MANAGER

What can you expect to be working on?

You will spend at least 80% of your time on greenfield development with React, Redux & TypeScript

A maximum of 20% of time is spent on the maintenance of our legacy front-end application, which is pretty stable

Participating in our Scrum process and code reviews

If you want, you can also go beyond the bounds of front-end and explore backend and mobile development (we’re using Kotlin for both)

What do we expect from you?

Good communication skills, both written and verbally, to be effective in our diverse team

Ideally 5+ years of experience, but will consider people with a minimum of 2.5 years if that is relevant experience with React, Redux and TypeScript

A passion for front-end development and delivering a great user experience

A solid grasp on software development fundamentals, particularly when it comes to front-end technologies like modern JavaScript and CSS

Experience with our legacy framework (Ext.js) is a nice-to-have, but definitely not crucial. We’re heavily investing in a modern front-end stack and have a team agreement to spend a maximum of 20% of our time on maintenance. If you don’t have experience with our legacy technologies, we’ll help you become familiar with the platform so you can assist with maintenance work as needed.

So what makes Timewax a great place to work?

You will be well compensated at market rate, depending on your skill level and experience

A lot of opportunities to take responsibility and grow, because the company is growing rapidly

A flat management structure where everyone is approachable and valued

The best thing about Timewax, though, is the people you get to work with. We have offices in Amsterdam and Lisbon and communicate in English. This opening is at our Lisbon office in Entrecampos, so it is easily reachable by train or subway. We also have a nice roof terrace and a football table.

You can take it from us that the team is a really smart and friendly bunch, but you can also find out for yourself during the interview process. You’ll get the chance to talk to some of your potential colleagues during the interview process, which is also a great opportunity for you to evaluate us.
